Snutka Golińska

What is a digitized snutka? The analogue snutka is a 19th-century stitch, most actively pursued to this day by the inhabitants of Golina – a small town in Greater Poland, near Jarocin. Transferred online, it represents not just an image and a pattern, but also the process of its design and production. Authors of the Snutka Golińska project took up the challenge of digitizing the patterns of 80 traditional embroideries from the collection of the Regional Museum in Jarocin. But not just that – they also created tools enabling everyone to design their own stitch! We can save, print, revisit and re-remix the designs.
