The Astronauts is a studio founded in 2012 by Adrian Chmielarz, Michał Kosieradzki and Andrzej Poznański, who have been creating blockbuster Polish games since the 1990s. The Astronauts’ debut project, the narrative game The Vanishing of Ethan Carter (2014), draws on the writing of H. P. Lovecraft and the landscapes of Lower Silesia, transferred onto the screen by photogrammetry. It quickly won plaudits from players and critics, with awards including a BAFTA for game creators, and sold more than 1 million copies. Today the Astronauts are working on the dynamic action game Witchfire, grounded in a universe of dark fantasy.
