Dodecaudion
Dodecaudion is a music controller that makes it possible to transform body movements into sound. The concept of the controller results from the observation that today, in the day of electronic music, the physical expression of music is very limited. This raises the question: How does movement affect music?
The dodecagon on the basis of which Dodecaudion is created is in geometry: any 12-sided polygon printed in 3D, which captures movement and transforms it into sound. Each of the 12 aluminium sides of the machine is equipped with a sensor measuring the distance to the hand of the user. Dodecaudion is connected wirelessly to a computer, and the sound that’s created depends on the software chosen by the user. This invention allows movement and music to combine.
