MoaCube is a group founded in 2011 by designer Tom Grochowiak and artist Gracjana Zielińska. Their first success came with the game Cinders, a visual novel based on the story of Cinderella, but replacing the fairy-tale stereotypes with realistic dilemmas that primarily concern women’s place in society; it quickly became one of the better reviewed games in its category. The studio’s next game, Solstice, works similarly: It portrays complex social problems using the conventions of fairy-tale fantasy. It’s worth adding that MoaCube is primarily a group of friends that work together – there’s no strict hierarchy, and members of the team share the proceeds from the games.
