Low Sounds – version 1
Music for tape.
Premiered: Świetlica Walendowskich, Warsaw (autumn 1978).
"Low Sounds" - sounds of three tom-toms recorded in Buffalo in 1978 by composer's friend percussionist Greg Ketchum - are low, continuous tones acquired by a fast tremolo performed with soft drumsticks on a tom-tom. In this shape "Low Sounds" were presented as a music for tape and this is the first version of the piece. Version two is when the soft tones of the tom-toms are preceded by texts presented simultaneously by two persons. Version three consists of a very loud and aggressive tremolo on a tom-tom with the soft and quiet sound of tom-toms on the tape.
The cover of a record presented here was designed by Włodzimierz Borowski, using hair of the composer.
