PANkreator is a joint project by people working in the Institute of Urban Culture (Instytut Kultury Miejskiej) and the Gdańsk Library of the Polish Academy of Sciences, and affiliated with Code for Poland (Koduj dla Polski). We wanted to use the potential of the library’s collections, some of the most valuable in the world, to popularise the library and break down the stereotypical image of a scientific library as a very serious place. The GIFs prepared by Joanna Michniewska and Sebastian Ruczyński are elegant, fun and simply outstanding. They have multiple meanings and can be used in many contexts – to comment on a post, for a presentation, to portray information in the media. Our dream is that one day we will bump into one of our GIFs somewhere at random. We make them available under a CC-BY free licence.
