A digital malversion of Bruno Schulz’s story “August”. Certain nouns were cut out of the author’s “Cinnamon Shops”, and a mechanism based on pseudo-randomness replaced them with expressions pulled from the book The Polish Fiat 125p: Structure, Use, Repair (Polski Fiat 125p. Budowa. Eksploatacja. Naprawa).
The inspiration to create the work was a rejection of Schulz’s faded, over-poetised poetry; revulsion toward “cinnamon”, “amber afternoons”, “the mourning greyness of the city blossoming in the windows with the dark lichen of dawns”; to the vocabulary spiced up with all the omnipresent reigning genitival metaphors that are strewn about this work like noise barriers over the Polish landscape.
