A modern virtual museum is more than just digitized resources – it also offers data about the exhibits, enabling users to easily discover and present them on various websites and platforms. This is how authors of the digital collection of the National Museum in Kraków approached the task of sharing its resources – these encompass a rich collection of Polish and Far Eastern art as well as special collections.
The museum’s website is not just a visual representation of its most important objects, but also includes themed galleries, essays whose authors describe the histories and motifs associated with the digitized exhibitis as well as a digital library.
Clear descriptions will inform us whether a given object is in the public domain and – owing to numerous filters – will let us discover other similar items, created in the same technique or period.
