The Decalogue is one of those cinematographic masterpieces you keep revisiting to vivisect particular scenes and study the dilemmas faced by the protagonists. The Map of the Decalogue is a virtual guidebook to Warsaw as seen in Krzysztof Kieślowski’s film series, annotated with descriptions of locations, fragments of the script and films.
The project, published by the National Film Archive – Audiovisual Institute, contains contemporary photographs of places made by Piotr Jaxa, teaching aids, as well as commentary from film scholar Prof. Mikołaj Jazdon and theologist Prof. Michał Klinger. Because of these added features, the Map is a fantastic guide not just for fans, but also for educators, who rely on The Decalogue to teach ethics, religious education, and social studies in more than 70 countries, where Kieślowski’s series found its audiences.
