Re-Kreacja
Elwira Wojtunik and Popesz Csaba Láng subjected the façade of Kraków’s Bunkier Sztuki to Re-creation. This intervention is a curious one, because it doesn’t operate directly on the elevation, which would be impossible because of the stones that cover it, but on the interior of the building. The expressive structure of the façade, or in fact a multimedia representation of it, was transferred in a frame of white Modernist architecture. The organic, dynamic element that is representative of the structure collided in this project with the refined, functional space of the interior.
Using interactive mapping technology, the artists created an audio-visual spectacle in which the well-known concrete forms are subjected to reconfiguration, becoming a complex mechanism. They move in response to the intervention of the audience, which stresses that the construction is a living structure, defined by its users and subject to constant reinterpretation. Re-creation is a new beginning for the facade of the Bunkier Sztuki, a suggestion of new possibilities. It’s a message that the future of this monument depends on its visitors and neighbours.
Re-creation was presented as part of the There Will Be A(rt)ction! project, whose basic goal is to increase the Bunkier Sztuki Collection, as well as integrating the broadest possible audience in its activities.
